JAMMU & KASHMIR Day 15: Lockdown continues across J&K amid spurt in Covid-19 positive cases | KNO Published 331 weeks ago on April 02, 2020 By Mubashir Aalam Wani Srinagar, Apr 02 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir continued to remain under tight grip of lockdown for the 15th straight day on Thursday with people preferring to stay indoors in wake of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the restrictions under section 144 CrPc continued to remain in place across Jammu and Kashmir while many of the areas have been declared as ‘Red Zone’ after positive cases were detected from the areas. Witnesses said that police and paramilitary troopers were deployed large in number on roads to enforce the restrictions imposed under section 144 with an aim to prevent the deadly virus from spreading further. Notably, the total number of positive cases across Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has mounted to 70 as more eight positive cases were reported in J&K today. Many of the areas and roads were sealed by the forces while all the religious places across also remained closed for the public to ensure that the virus is prevented from spreading. The roads wore deserted look as only employees working in emergency sectors were being allowed to move. So far, police has arrested over 300 people across the Valley from past couple of days and seized many vehicles to enforce the restrictions amid nation-wide lockdown called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 21 days.
